Keep resin crisp for years: UV avoidance, heat protection, safe cleaning, and minor repair tips.

Resin lasts a long time when it is treated like a display object, not a toy. The three real enemies are UV, heat, and harsh chemicals.

UV (sunlight): the slow damage

Direct sunlight can cause:

  • yellowing over time
  • surface brittleness
  • fading on painted finishes

Care rule

  • Keep resin out of direct sun. Indirect daylight is fine.
  • If a window display is unavoidable, use UV-filter film or curtains.

Heat: the fast damage

Heat can cause:

  • softening and warping (especially thin parts)
  • stress around glued joints
  • weaker magnet seating if areas deform

Care rule

  • Avoid heaters, radiators, PC exhaust paths, and hot car interiors.
  • Do not place near strong lamps that generate heat at close distance.

Safe cleaning (do this)

Dusting

  • Soft makeup brush or microfiber cloth
  • Light pressure only on thin details

Wipe cleaning

  • Lukewarm water + a small amount of mild soap
  • Use a damp cloth, not soaking immersion for complex assemblies
  • Dry fully afterward

What to avoid (common damage sources)

  • Alcohol, acetone, thinner, aggressive cleaners
  • Scrub pads or paper towels on satin/matte finishes
  • “Strong degreasers” that can haze clear coats

Handling rules (prevents breakage)

  • Lift from the base, not from arms/weapons
  • For modular kits: separate parts before moving the statue long distance

Minor fixes (practical)

  • Small chips: touch up paint + clear coat spot protection
  • Loose joints: clean, dry, then re-glue with appropriate adhesive
  • If a part bends slightly: gentle correction at room temperature, never with heat blasts
